Living in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, Johanna worked at the Urban Institute. She loved her job and her office but wanted as much time with her children as possible. Johanna knew giving up a nice career position for the sake of her children was a privilege. While her children were young, Johanna taught at a private preschool two blocks from her home. She was also was a Director of the Summer Playground program for Parks & Recreation with over two hundred children registered ages six to fifteen.
Later, her writing ability and creativity led her to a position in the county school system. She worked in various high schools in a program to improve teaching techniques and identify teens who needed help.
After moving to a different state where the school system pay was significantly less, Johanna entered Corporate Real Estate. She was a District manager for years. She also worked with Safe Child, a program helping elementary aged children and identifying those at risk.
Johanna has also devoted much time to helping abused women and teens. Even though it was risky, she has walked the streets of Los Angeles encouraging prostitutes and runaways to make a better choice for themselves. Her booklet, Reflections of a Wounded Soul, is designed to get runaways off the street and help them realize they are of value. Johanna has spent decades helping to identify and solve problems while also offering hope and encouragement.
Not only does Johanna believe in miracles, she depends on them. She currently resides in North Carolina with her husband.
